Planographic Printing Studio
The aim of the lithography studio is the education of a student/artist, who can consciously and freely express themselves in traditional lithography techniques, as well as their own techniques rooted in planographic printing.
In the teaching process we focus not only on the unique mark created by lithography, but also on experimentation and the inspirational role of technique. Technique, which is supposed to express artistic ideas, be helpful in their realization and not be an aim in itself, an obstacle, a barrier through the tradition of imprint, the identical impressions, and their limited number. Therefore, it is important to make students aware of the possibilities in modifying traditional techniques through monotyping – introducing drawing and color directly onto the print, and the possibilities of collage.
Individual corrections take place during the whole process of creating the matrix and print, but without interfering with the initiative of the young artist. We expect the student to be self-sufficient in interpretation and to be able to take responsibility for their decisions. Lectures on technology are conducted individually with each student during the work on their matrix. We aim to teach young artists respect for the noble art of lithography as well as respect for one’s own work and the work of others.
