The Studio curriculum provides an opportunity to use previously acquired skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, design, or graphic art, and develop the knowledge of animation and photography. It introduces elements of spatial and architectural design, theatre studies, stage construction and the function of lighting in image creation. With relation to film – frame composition and the rules of preparing the set for camera work. Through exercises and lectures based on theatrical, operatic and film scenes we try as practitioners to encourage in students a creative and active approach to stage and screen design. We have an individual approach to each student and participate in their development process depending on individual predisposition and skills. We also try to provide students with real scenic design situations (eg. In cooperation with film direction and cinematography students of the Radio and Television Faculty at the University of Silesia in Katowice on their short films). Our students also provide stage design for diploma theatrical plays, cooperate with and assist young artists, which is a great source of satisfaction for us. Another chance for development is meeting with masters and experienced practitioners of professions related to stage and film that help students to get to know and like their trade.
